Exoskeleton

Mediums: Not available.

One of those weird drawings that just always happens in Weidner’s class…

I may be making this all up. The painting was a response to an assignment to develop a self-portrait, which externalizes the structural elements of the skeleton. In hind-sight, I don’t think I was as young as I look in the painting. The exoskeleton seems to be both structure and defensive armor. There is a vulnerability that underlies this image that is puzzling to me 3 years later. I imagine a response to stress that somehow becomes the physical framework in which the body operates. We understand the process of blister, then callous, this is a physical response to physical impact. The question that I can’t answer is what is the physical response to emotional and intellectual impact?
