Vault Hill Overlook – Van Cortlandt Park

$35.00

Description

I painted this view from Vault Hill in Van Cortlandt Park on a winter day when the air hung heavy with mist. There’s something hauntingly beautiful about this overlook when the landscape is stripped down to its essential forms and the distant views are softened by winter’s quiet mood.

Working in oil, I wanted to capture that dreamy, contemplative feeling through muted purples and grays. The vertical composition draws your eye from the foreground up into the misty distance, inviting you to experience that moment of stillness I felt while standing there.

This is print #1 from a strictly limited edition of 30. I personally sign, date, and number each one along the white border. For these prints, I use Epson Archival Ultrachrome K3 ink on Canson Velin Museum Rag 310g archival paper, a combination that beautifully preserves the subtle color transitions and atmospheric quality of my original oil painting.

The print measures 8.5″x11″ with a white border. I ship each print flat in a protective sleeve to ensure it arrives in perfect condition.

What draws me to scenes like this is finding beauty in the quieter moments of our city parks. Van Cortlandt Park offers these pockets of contemplative space where the urban world feels distant, and I wanted to share this particular winter mood that transforms the familiar landscape into something almost otherworldly.
