I take a small number of commissions each year for original oil paintings — landscapes, neighborhood scenes, and the kinds of places that matter to people.
What I paint
I work from direct observation whenever possible. If you have a place in mind — a park, a block, a view you return to — I’d want to visit it or work from reference we gather together. The paintings tend toward the same subjects I pursue in my own work: urban landscapes, trees, light, the specific character of a place.
Commissions that fit my practice best: New York City locations, en plein air subjects, and scenes with a strong sense of place. I’m generally not the right fit for portraits, pets, or purely imagined subjects.
How it works
- We talk about the place. You share what matters about it — why this location, what you want the painting to hold.
- I send a proposal with size options, timeline, and pricing.
- A 50% deposit holds your spot and covers materials.
- I paint, then share progress. You’ll see the work before it ships.
- Final payment on completion. Paintings ship carefully packed.
Pricing
Original commission paintings start at $800 and vary with size and complexity. Most commissions fall between $1,200 and $3,000.
Timeline
I typically book 2–4 months out. If you have a deadline in mind, mention it early and I’ll let you know if it’s workable.
